About the Artist

Meet Angela

I'm Angela, a watercolor artist living in the Pacific Northwest, where every garden inspires my work. In my spare time, I work as a software engineer in big tech. I'm a proud mom of a 4-year-old daughter and two Shiba Inus.

My Story

My love for watercolors began in my mom's garden, where I spent countless summer afternoons picking up rose petals and watching her arrange beautiful bouquets. There was something magical about the way light filtered through the petals and the subtle smell of roses that left me gazing and wondering how I could capture it—until I discovered watercolors.

After a busy professional career in big tech for a decade, I made the leap—trading the buzzing city life for a cottage in the suburbs with a garden that has become both my sanctuary and my art studio.

Now, I spend my days doing what I love most: wandering through gardens with my sketchbook, capturing the fleeting beauty of each season. My work is a nostalgic salute to the beauty of the English cottage garden—the tumbling roses, the wildflower meadows, the quiet corners where nature creates her own arrangements.

The Studio

Where the Magic Happens

My studio is a cozy corner of my suburban cottage, filled with jars of brushes, palettes stained with years of pigment, and botanical reference books.

Fresh flowers from the garden always sit on my desk—both as inspiration and as subjects. I believe that working directly from nature, watching how light changes throughout the day, brings an authenticity to each piece that simply can't be replicated from photographs.

The Process

From Garden to Gallery

Each painting begins with observation. I spend time in my garden or local meadows, sketching and photographing, getting to know my subject intimately before I ever touch a brush.

I work on high-quality cotton paper, building up layers of transparent washes to create depth and luminosity. Watercolor demands patience—you must work with the paint rather than against it, allowing happy accidents to inform the final piece.

Prints are made on archival paper using giclée printing, ensuring that every subtle wash and delicate brushstroke is faithfully reproduced.
